It is not so often you get in a good mood just to look at a building, but the refurbishment of the former storehouse and repair shop for the farmers cooperative, does just that. The local Stensrud family have given Stavanger a real gift by bringing the old building back to life as a small boutique hotel with only 12 rooms - a proper design hotel the city should be proud of. The hotel, which was finished in 1937 is named after its architect Eilert Smith. It is located in the northern part of the Stavanger peninsula, between old warehouses and has brought life into this part of the city Trodahl Architects has been in charge of the refurbishment and has added two more floors to the original building, built with the same curves as the glass fasade at the ground floor. When you enter through the main door, you meet the reception/lounge/bar. Further in you enter The Michelin restaurant. Each room is different, with the wooden windows in the main floors as a focal point. The materials and interior are scandinavian inspired, but the most important is the focus on comfort and design. If you want to completely splash out, stay in Eilert´s Recidense at the new addition to the building at the top
