Besides being a popular tourist spot and instagram favourite, Fargegaten (The Colour Street) is a great place to have both lunch and dinner - and party in the evening. in the area there are a lot of different places to dine; Citra, Nick & Jonnies, Bacchus Cafe, Armadillo, Noodle Noodle, Foodloose by House of Fingerfood, På Kornet, Frøken Pil and pixxa chain restaurant Peppes - just to mention some. As explained under Attractions, The Fargegaten project started in 2005 and had a four year long journey through the bureaucracy where the goal was to turn a complete street and its buildings into a new and colourful attraction - never seen before. An artist was used to plan the colours and combination for each building which then had to be approved by the building owners and the city council. The street was closed for traffic and later became a pedestrian area with all the bars and restaurants - and now one of the major attractions in Stavanger - both for tourists and locals.
